Old Priest Grade Crash Claims Life

A rollover crash on the Old Priest Grade yesterday morning killed a Groveland-area man.
CHP spokesman Tom Wills says 56-year-old Thomas Wyckoff of Scotts Valley had been renting in Groveland. He was headed down hill on Old Priest Grade around 7 a.m. Sunday when for unknown reasons lost control, ran off the south side of the roadway, hit the dirt embankment, and overturned. The 1994 Toyota T-100 pickup continued to slide back across the roadway dropping off the road´s edge, rolled over one time down the hillside. The truck landed on the roof, crushing the roof and killing the driver.
Wills says this was the 32nd fatal accident for the year in Tuolumne County. The highest number of fatalities on record was 25.
