FBI Beefs Up San Diego Office

Sponsored by:

The FBI has doubled the number of agents in its San Diego office who are assigned to fight terrorism. The special agent in charge of the San Diego office says the new focus on terrorism will come at the expense of other law enforcement activities. William Gore says he is shifting 10 percent of anti-drug resources, five percent of agents who specialize in white-collar crime and five percent who work on violent crime to devote more attention to fighting terrorism.

San Diego found itself a major focus of anti-terrorism investigations after the September Eleventh attacks when it was learned that at least two of the hijackers lived in the city and took classes at local flight schools.
