Bypass Work Starting Again
Caltrans officials will hold a public meeting next week to explain the first phase of construction on the East Sonora Bypass.
The second construction season of the project gets underway in earnest April 15th, depending on the weather.
Spokesperson Robert Spradling says right now crews are removing the soil conditioners placed on the site to keep it stable this winter.
The bypass project will relieve interregional congestion on Route 108 in East Sonora. According to Caltrans, the project includes construction of a two-lane expressway on new alignments from west of Sanguinetti Loop to Standard Road, a distance of 3 miles. Part of the project will also include widening and rehabilitation work on the existing Route 108/Mono Way.
The bypass informational session will be held from 4 until 8 p.m., April 10th, in the Sonora Opera Hall on South Washington Street.
