Japanese Political Officials Learn About Peace In Berkeley
Sponsored by:
Officials from Japanese political organizations are visiting Berkeley to learn about peace politics.
They met with council member Dona Spring on Monday to discuss strategies for Japan´s fledgling anti war movement.
Kiyoshi Matsuya, who heads Japan´s Rainbow and Green organization, says that until recently there was no need for Japanese anti war organizations because of Japan´s pacifist constitution. The constitution was written by US Occupation authorities after World War Two. It bans Japan from using military force to settle international disputes.
