The state prison at San Quentin marks its 150th anniversary tomorrow. In the Gold Rush days of 1852, San Quentin began as a prison barge in San Francisco Bay. When the barge became too crowded, convicts began building a prison facility on shore. With more than 600 condemned inmates, San Quentin is now home to the nation´s largest death row.
