Suspicious Pipe Closes Store

A Valley Springs convenience store was close down for about a half hour this weekend, after Calaveras County deputies found a suspicious looking item in a man´s car. Deputies had detained 43-year-old Timothy Garcia of Valley Springs just after 2:00 Sunday morning. They were arresting him on warrants, when they found a wired length of PVC pipe under the drivers seat. The Calaveras bomb squad determined it was harmless. Garcia was booked on the warrants.
