Trigger Locks Must Be Approved

A bill banning the sale or giveaways of trigger locks not approved by the state Department of Justice is on its way to Gov. Gray Davis.
The bill lists 94 brands of gun safety locks approved for distribution in California. Republicans say the bill is petty and excludes brands that are safe, but narrowly miss state standards.
But Democrats say federal tests last year that showed 30 brands failed when they were dropped, banged or cut.
