Jurors Recommend Death Penalty For Westerfield

Jurors have decided to recommend the death penalty in the trial of David Westerfield for the kidnap-murder of Danielle van Dam. The timing of the verdict was a surprise, because less than two hours earlier the foreman notified the judge it was deadlocked. The judge still has the option of reducing the sentence to life without parole. The kidnapping was the first in a string of high-profile child abductions across the country this year.
