Simon Touts Education Platform In San Diego
Bill Simon touted his education platform Saturday during a visit to a San Diego school for homeless children. The Republican gubernatorial candidate applauded Harbor Summit Elementary for tailoring its programs to fit the needs of children who face the challenges associated with being homeless.
Simon says that his administration would stress local control of schools. That, he says, is what is needed for officials to design programs to fit the specific needs of their communities. Harbor Summit serves as many as 60 students, from kindergartners to eighth graders, whose parents are being assisted by homeless shelters in the city.
