Record Enrollment At CSU
The California State University chancellor says enrollment at CSU campuses has reached a record of nearly 407,000 students.
But chancellor Charles Reed says unless the system receives increased funding, enrollment requirements may have to be tightened.
The record enrollment reflects an increase of more than 18,000 students or five percent over last year.
With the children of baby boomers reaching college age and the growing demand by high school students for a college education, the postsecondary education commission estimates an additional 120,000 students would enter the university system by the 2010.
Reed today urged trustees, faculty and staff to find ways to
ease enrollment pressures, including the use of online classes.
