BAER Team Work Resumes

Sponsored by:

The rain on Monday was thankfully not heavy enough to derail the BAER Team restoration efforts in the Stanislaus National Forest.

The team has stated that they plan to work well into November, however, everything could end early if a big storm hits the region and the dirt roads and trails become too saturated.

“It was a fairly gentle rain this week, and there have been no slope failures, ditch failures, or that type of thing,” says Don Ferguson, BAER Team Spokesperson. “The roads are dry enough today to start working again.”

The team spent Monday inside getting caught up on items like vehicle maintenance and required paperwork. This afternoon crews will be out replacing many metal culverts on the north end of the fire. Crews will start doing similar work on the southern end tomorrow. The BAER Team has been allocated over $9 million to complete repairs and conduct erosion control work needed following the Rim Fire.
