Evacuation Centers For Yosemite Fire
Yosemite, CA — Two evacuation centers are open for those impacted by the fire burning in Yosemite National Park.
The 500-plus acre fire is situated near the community of El Portal. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for the 45 residences in nearby Foresta, as well as some homes on the outskirts of El Portal. An evacuation center is up and running at the Groveland Community Center at 18583 Main Street in Groveland, as well as at the Tenaya Lodge at 1122 Highway 41 in Fish Camp. The shelters are being staffed by volunteers with the American Red Cross.
Additional firefighting resources will be arriving throughout the evening and into tomorrow. A DC-10 has been spotted this evening near the Columbia Air Attack base. An outside Incident Management Team has been requested to take over operations Sunday. Several roads and trails near the fire are closed.
