Sonora, CA – For those planning to attend the Stanislaus National Forest Rim Fire reforestation meetings in Tuolumne County next week, take note, there has been a scheduling change with a second open house added.

As previously reported in February,  the U.S. Forest Service first released details about a plan that calls for reforestation efforts on over 30,000 acres, plantation thinning on 11,000 acres, noxious weed eradication on nearly 5,000 acres, and creating 480 acres of additional deer habitat. It is going through the NEPA process, and funding is actively being sought for its implementation.

Here is the Forest Service’s new schedule:

Reforestation Technical Workshop – April 8 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Tuolumne County Emergency Operations Center, 18440 Striker Ct., (off Tuolumne Rd), Sonora, CA.

Reforestation Open House – April 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Tuolumne County Emergency Operations Center, 18440 Striker Ct., (off Tuolumne Rd), Sonora, CA.

Reforestation Open House – April 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Tuolumne County Emergency Operations Center, 18440 Striker Ct., (off Tuolumne Rd), Sonora, CA.

The Reforestation Workshop and Open Houses will have members of the Forest Interdisciplinary Team that developed the proposed reforestation action available to answer questions/concerns and receive feedback on the proposed action.

Of the nearly 155,000 of the acres burned in the Rim Fire, roughly 98,049 acres burned under moderate to high-severity conditions, according to forest officials.
