Mother Lode Poll: Don’t Extend Medi-Cal

Last week an informal myMotherLode.com poll noted that the California Senate passed a bill to extend private and Medi-Cal Health insurance to children who are in the country illegally. The vote was 82 percent disapprove and 18 percent approve of the proposal.

The Assembly may also vote in support of SB 4, also known as the “Health For All” bill, but signature from Gov. Jerry Brown is not guaranteed. Those against the bill note its high cost. Previous versions of the bill sought healthcare for all adults in the country illegally at an estimated cost of $740 million per year.

The bill’s author, Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, scaled back the proposal, limiting Medi-Cal enrollment to children under 18. He and other supporters argue that increasing access to preventive care costs less and reduces emergency room wait times.

Other recent polls included the question “Do You Approve Vanity Fair Featuring Bruce Jenner’s Change To Caitlyn?” The result, 42% Don’t Care, 25% Don’t Like, 23% Too Much Hype and 10% voted Yes.

The answer to “How Hot Do You Prefer Summer To Get?” went to the 35% who favor 85 to 90 degrees with only 26% favoring anything hotter while 21% favored 80-84 and 18% prefer summers lower than 80 degrees.

For the NBA Championship happening now, 62 percent “couldn’t care less” who will win. The Golden State Warriors were favored 32% to 6% over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The series is tied 2-2 with Game 5 on tomorrow, Sunday, June 14th at 5pm pacific time.
