New Veterans Group For Modern Warfare Generation

Sponsored by:

Mother Lode Veterans who have served their country since August of 1990 are invited to an introductory meeting of a new veterans organization in Tuolumne County.

Marvin Pierce was KVML’s Friday “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Pierce was born and raised in Tuolumne County and graduated from Summerville Hisgh School in 1987.

In 1999, Pierce joined the military and served for sixteen years, where he was a combat engineer and spent time in Afghanistan in 2012. He helped to build twenty-seven bridges while he was there and operated IED robots.

Pierce is looking for soldiers and veterans from Operations Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Iraq and Afghanistan and other conflicts.

An introductory meeting will be held on Saturday July 11 beginning at 5 PM at the Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall in Tuolumne City.

This meeting will provide an opportunity for Tuolumne and Calaveras veterans of modern conflicts to consider forming a chapter of Veterans of Modern Warfare. Pierce is inviting interested vets to bring their family along with them.

Pierce, who is one of hundreds who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) said that part of the reason for forming a new group is that veterans can find mutual support, friendship, and numerous community opportunities.

For more information, contact Pierce at 209-928-5217.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 AM.
