Butte Fire 96% Contained
San Andreas, CA — The Butte Fire is holding at 70,086 acres and 96% containment.
The cost to fight the fire has now exceeded $74-million, according to the incident command team. The number of firefighters on scene has dropped to 352. All air resources have been released from the fire. There are still 28 engines, nine crews, seven dozers and two water tenders. The next community meeting is tonight at 6pm at the Mokelumne Hill town hall at 8283 Main Street. In addition, a meeting will be held Thursday at 6pm at the Railroad Flat Elementary School.
CAL Fire Captain Mike Mohler says, “These meetings will be attended by CAL Fire representatives, but there will also be a focus on recovery in the communities. There will be representatives from insurance companies, FEMA, California’s Office of Emergency Services, and others, to give locals information about where they can find recovery resources.”
Full containment of the Butte Fire is anticipated by sometime tomorrow.
