Caltrans Plans Week of Oct. 23

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Caltrans crews are poised for another busy workweek while the weather holds out. Expect a few cone zones to set up as early as in the Sunday overnight.

Except for the ongoing work at the Highway 120 James E Roberts Bridge, which actually sends motorists along an alternate route Sunday through Thursday nights from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. (and otherwise generates ten-minute, round-the-clock delays), the second biggest headache for travelers this week may well be the 20-minute delays anticipated by a drainage clearing and inspection project that is planned to run every weekday on Highway 49/108 at Yosemite Junction from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Also on Highway 120, tree work Sunday through Saturday will continue to cause ten-minute waits between Old Priest Grade and the Yosemite National Park west boundary entrance from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

More Highway 108 hot spots this week include Sunday through Saturday tree crews back on the job between Chief Fuller Way and Kennedy Meadows from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., triggering ten-minute travel delays; momentary stops are also probable between Twain Harte Drive and Middle Camp Sugar Pine Road from 8:15 a.m. until 3 p.m. during drainage cleaning and inspection activities.

Highway 49 striping between the Mariposa/Tuolumne county line and Moccasin may bring opportunities to take 15 minutes worth of deep cleansing breaths Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday only, between Simms Road and Highway 108 West, plan for ten-minute delays from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. while crews perform drainage cleaning and inspection chores.

Calaveras Cone Zones This Week

More paving on Highway 4 continues every weekday between Stanislaus/Calaveras County line and Highway 49 in Angels Camp from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., piling up traffic for at least ten minutes at a time. Similar motorist impacts are likely between Dorrington Station and Cabbage Patch Log Road from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Highway 4 tree work this week will bring more ten-minute interruptions between Upper Moran Road and the Big Trees State Park entrance from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. From 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. they will also be sawing between Big Trees State Park and Salt Springs Trail. A utility crew, on-scene between Lakemont Drive and Henry Street/Lilac Street, continues to slow traffic for a few minutes at a time daily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Striping operations starting up again Sunday in the overnight run through the weeknights from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Highway 12 between the San Joaquin/Calaveras County line and Highway 49, possibly generating ten-minute backups. Similar work going on during those times on Highway 26 between Shelton Road and Highway 49 may momentarily slow traffic.

Anticipate other brief traffic hiccups in the following Calaveras locations for utility repairs being made: on Highway 26 weekdays between Nove Way and Highway 12, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.; along Highway 49 weekdays between Main Street and Pool Station Road, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.; also along Highway 49, Tuesday through Thursday, between Angels Creek and Birds Way, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
