Update: High Winds Leave Behind Power Outages

Update at 3:30 p.m.: PG&E reports that all the power has been restored in the Mother Lode from this morning’s outages impacting more than 1,850 customers. Those affected were in the Pinecrest, Mi-Wuk Village, Groveland and Jamestown areas of Tuolumne County along with the Forest Meadows area of Calaveras County. The company attributed the outages to downed power lines, trees in to electrical equipment and major equipment failure due to the stormy conditions.

Update at 12:30 p.m.: PG&E crews continue to work on some significant Mother Lode power outages from heavy overnight winds.

In Tuolumne County there are 1,705 PG&E customers without electricity in the area of Cold Springs, Pinecrest and Strawberry. The company reports it is due to major equipment failure and gives a restoration time sometime in the 2 o’clock hour. Progress is being made in the Mi-Wuk Village with all but 44 out of 100 customers still with no lights. PG&E blames downed power lines and post an estimated repair time of around 4 p.m. The power has been restored to 70 customers outside of Groveland and 14 customers remain in the dark in Jamestown. In Calaveras County, 89 customers are without electricity in and around Forest Meadows. Trees in contact with electrical equipment is the official cause given by the company with a repair time of around 1 p.m.

Original post at 6:50 a.m.: Sonora, CA — There are some significant power outages in the Mother Lode this morning as heavy winds occurred overnight.

In Tuolumne County there are 1,705 PG&E customers without electricity in the area of Cold Springs, Pinecrest and Strawberry.  On a smaller scale, there are 100 customers without power due to an outage in Mi-Wuk Village, 70 customers outside of Groveland and 14 customers in Jamestown. In Calaveras County, 89 customers are without electricity in and around Forest Meadows. Because the outages are so widespread, it remains unclear when there will be full restoration.
