Update: April Snowstorm Causing Traffic Hazards And Cancelations

Update at 3:28 am: Tuolumne County government offices have closed early Thursday afternoon, except for public safety. The county government offices will reopen Friday at 11 am.

Update at 3:10 pm: Columbia College has canceled classes for the remainder of Thursday. Online classes will continue as normal.

The Volunteer Fair at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds is canceled.

The ICES play date at Summerville Parent Nursery School planned for Friday has been rescheduled due to the snowy weather.

Original story at 2:54 pm: Sonora, CA — Heavy snow around the Mother Lode is creating several headaches for travelers.

In Tuolumne County, a vehicle has hit a power pole on Parrotts Ferry Road near Brewster Drive. Several vehicles are getting stuck on Kewin Mill Road near Comstock Ranch Road and areas like Twain Harte Drive.

Traffic is slow going in downtown Sonora, as of 2:50 pm.

Crashes have occurred on Longeway Road near South Fork Road, Highway 49 near Hirsh Road, Highway 120 near Anderson Street, and Highway 108 near Leisure Drive.

In Calaveras County, the CHP reports that several vehicles are getting stuck on Highway 4 near Big Trees Village Road. A vehicle has crashed on El Dorado Road Drive near Jenny Lind Court.

The CHP and other emergency responders are stretched thin so travel with extreme caution this afternoon.

The National Weather Service reports that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Mother Lode and Northern Sierra Foothills through 11 pm on Friday.
