The Sonora Wildcats cruised to an easy 64-0 victory Friday night in their regular season home finale versus the Modesto Christian Crusaders.

Sonora received the opening kickoff and wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Cash Byington took the second play from scrimmage 41 yards to the house for the opening touchdown. The Wildcats would pull most of their starters after the opening series, giving the depth players playing time against the much smaller Modesto Christian squad. They would prove more than up to the task, as QB Steven Morfoot, WR Rigo Estrella, and FB Antonio Sanchez all notched touchdowns to give the Wildcats a 42-0 halftime lead.

The second half began with a running clock and the big question of whether or not the Crusaders would be able to get to their first points of the season. Despite a number of promising drives and an apparent Crusader touchdown called back due to a hold, the Wildcats were able to preserve the shutout and keep Modesto Christian off the scoreboard. Additional touchdowns from the Wildcats came courtesy of Dallas Latin, Colton Gibson, another Morfoot run, and a fumble recovery in the endzone on a kickoff.

Steven Morfoot won Chicken Ranch Casino Player of the Game honors for his 5 TD performance (4 running, 1 throwing). Brody Speer secured the Faust Heating and Air Hot Hit of the Game on a brutal tackle for loss on the Wildcats first defensive play of the contest. Sonora improves to 7-2 on the year and closes out the regular season next week on the road versus Ripon Christian.
