Calaveras County, CA – Calaveras County’s Health Department says come on down, they’ll give you one. Health Officials say they have been inundated with calls from residents asking where to get the flu shot thanks to recent news reports on a possible severe flu season.

County Health Officer Dr. Dean Kelaita says “Flu cases in the U.S. have occurred earlier than normal and the severity of the flu this year is greater.”


Dr. Kelaita says state officials anticipate increased flu activity in California in the coming weeks and urges you to get vaccinated now.


“Getting vaccinated now allows time for immunity to develop from the vaccine before cases increase,” Dr. Kelaita explained.


Those at high risk for complications from the flu, include:


• Children aged 6 months until their 5th birthday
• Pregnant women
• People 50 years of age and older
• People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
• People who live in nursing homes and other long term care facilities



Anyone over six months of age can get a Flu shot at the Calaveras County Public Health Department at these locations:

County Health Officials say the fee is $16.00, but no one will be turned away it they cannot afford it. They say Medi-Cal and Medicare are accepted.
