Update: Local Man Safe After Disappearing During Morning Solo Hike

Update at 7pm: Thankfully, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s reports that Morris has been found safe. He became lost on his way back from a lookout trail at the top of Mt. Elizabeth Road. Just a bit ago he wandered onto Italian Bar Road and flagged down a passerby. He was then driven over to the Search and Rescue Team that was approximately four miles away.

Original story posted at 6:20pm: Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance to locate a missing Mother Lode resident.

According to officials, Randy Morris, age 62, on Monday morning went for a hike alone in the Mt. Elizabeth area off Joaquin Gully in Twain Harte. He was supposed to meet a friend back at his car at 9:30 a.m. but never showed up.

Randy is 5’9” tall and was last seen wearing a jacket and a brown hat. View images of Morris in the image box slide show. Anyone with information that may aid in locating him is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 209 533-5815.
