Summer Events In June
The Summer heats up with several events. Summer Sizzle will be held at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. The Summer Sizzle is a free one day event that involves a classic car show, a peddler’s fair and children’s activities. The event begins with a breakfast served by Tuolumne County 4-H members from 9 through 11 AM. The Kiwanis Club will serve food and drink from 1 through 4 PM. Columbia State Historic Park has been presenting “Diggins 1852”, their annual living history event. It started May 30th and will go through June 2nd. The event is sponsored by Friends of Columbia and Columbia State Historic Park and depicted by over 100 costumed volunteers. Visitors can experience the events and environment of an 1850’s mining camp that is re-created in detail from the clothing, food and entertainment to the powerful stories of the early miners as they struggled to “strike it rich.”
On Saturday the annual Golf Benefit for the Center For A Non Violent Community begins at 10:30am at the Mountain Springs Golf and Country Club. For more details about this event go here. There are many other fundraisers on Saturday the full list is here.

The Master Gardeners have events in both Tuolumne and Calaveras.
On Saturday is an Open Garden Tour at the Demonstration Garden details are here. In Calaveras is Art Among the Roses at the Calaveras Demonstration Garden. Art, music, light refreshments, and more details are here. Both garden events are free. The Mountain Ranch Garden Tour is $20 per person which includes lunch, details are here.
On Sunday The Tuolumne County Master Gardeners 18th Annual Garden Tour begins at 10:30am and features four gardens and the Demonstration Garden. View the “Four Beautiful Gardens plus our Demonstration Garden” event details here.
On Saturday is the “Big Dreams Family Fun Day in the Park” will feature free games and activities for children of all ages. Big Dreams is non profit organization working to build parks and playgrounds where people of all physical abilities can play together. Event details are here. Also on Saturday is the annual Chicken in a Barrel at noon in Murphys Community Park. Now in its 24th year, “Chicken in a Barrel” is the main fundraiser for Albert Michelson Elementary School, presented by the Michelson Parents Club. Details are in the “Chicken in a Barrel” event listing.
