Ford Fiesta Hits Freight-Liner Truck On Hwy 26

Valley Springs, CA — The CHP reports that Daita Davis is in the hospital with major injuries following an accident that closed Highway 26 near Valley Springs this morning.

52-year-old Daita Davis of San Andreas was traveling Eastbound when she allowed her Ford Fiesta to cross into the oncoming traffic. 26-year-old Victorino Esponoza of Galt was able to avoid a head-on collision by turning right. Davis collided with the driver’s side of the truck. Esponoza was traveling approximately 40 miles per hour when he observed Davis cross over into his lane. CHP reported that Davis was tired.

Davis was taken by ambulance to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital with major injuries from side-swiping the truck. Esponoza did not report any injuries.

The incident happened at around 7:45am on Highway 26 near the intersection of Hogan Dam Road. The accident partially blocked the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 26 impeding traffic for two hours.
