SAF Announces Recipients
The Sonora Area Foundation has released their latest list of contributions and grants made to community organizations and events.
The Central Sierra Arts Council received a $4,500 grant to help support the popular Sonora Arts Trails event May 19-20th. The event invites the public to take a self-guided tour to more than a dozen local artists’ galleries in and around Sonora. Funds will support publicity and advertising.
Organizers from the City of Sonora received a $4,000 contribution for their activities in hosting Phase 4 of the Amgen Tour in Sonora on May 16th.
Mountain Youth and Community Theatre (MYACT) received a $5,900 grant to support upcoming classes and youth production. MYACT is a new nonprofit formed by the merger of Meyer Hide-Out and Sonora Children’s Theater.
Tuolumne County Youth football was awarded a $10,000 grant for both helmets and scholarships for young players. The organization serves around three hundred players annually.
The Mi Wuk-Sugar Pine Fire Protection District received a $4,500 grant to help pay for training materials, equipment (including two defibrillators) and supplies for CPR classes this Spring.
In the first quarter of this year, an additional $100,925 was awarded in forty donor-advised grants to community nonprofits and other charitable causes.
The Sonora Area Foundation was established in 1990, and channels donor contributions to projects in the county. SAF has administered nearly over $14 million in grants since its inception.
