Injured Baby Leads To Arrest

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A man was booked into Tuolumne County Jail after his three month old daughter was found with serious injuries.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Kevin Boehmer took his three month old child to Sonora Regional Medical Center over the weekend because she reportedly was having “difficulty breathing.” The medical staff noticed that the infant had noticeable bruising, as well as signs of older injuries.

Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Sgt. Jeff Wilson says the infant was transported to Oakland Children’s Hospital, and the reports are dire. “She is not expected to survive,” says Sgt. Wilson.

Boehmer has been arrested on a felony charge of cruelty to a child resulting in injury or death. Boehmer’s last known address was in Washington State, but it’s believed that he’s been residing in Tuolumne County. The Sheriff’s Office reports that Boehmer’s wife is serving time in prison up in Washington for a child abuse incident regarding a different child.

An investigation is still underway regarding the injuries of the infant.
