Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Former Columbia Elementary School aid Brennan Pendley has received formal sentencing.

Pendley plead guilty in June to two counts of having unlawful intercourse with a minor and a separate charge of sending harmful matter to a minor (text message).

Pendley was sentenced Friday in Tuolumne County Superior Court to a year in county jail, five years probation and he must register as a sex offender. The District Attorney’s Office reports that 10 months in jail is for the first two charges and other two months is for sending the harmful matter. The sentencing was part of a plea agreement with the D.A.’s Office. Pendley also waived his right to an appeal.

Pendley’s crimes committed were with a student at Columbia Elementary while he was employed as an after school aide. The arrest has drawn considerable attention in the community as he is the son of the School District’s Superintendent, Dr. John Pendley.
