Libraries Forced To Cut Hours
Sonora, CA – Libraries in Tuolumne County will be closed on Monday’s due to a reduction in staff.
This includes the Main Library in Sonora, and the branches in Groveland, Tuolumne and Twain Harte.
Full time positions within the library system have been reduced from 15 to 9 over the past two years because of less money coming into the county.
Interim Director of Library Services Bessie Platten says that by keeping the libraries open Tuesday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday and Monday, it will enable the system’s reduced staff to function more efficiently and provide the best service.
The Worlds of Wonder bookmobile will operate from Tuesday through Thursday, making major stops in Lake Don Pedro, Crystal Falls, Columbia, the Rancheria and Jamestown.
The changes will take effect on July 6.
