S.R.T. Seeks State Contract
Columbia, CA — While seven businesses have closed their doors at Columbia State Historic Park, the Fallon House Theatre (operated by the Sierra Repretory Theatre) remains open during the extended run of Sisters of Swing: the Story of the Andrews Sisters.
From Managing Director Sara Jones, “We are currently working under a special event permit to finish out Sisters of Swing until July 5. We may be doing a special permit for Damn Yankees which opens July 24 and closes September 6. I’m hopeful of having a more permanent contract before the closing of Damn Yankees.”
As far as a contract is concerned, “We are dealing with Catherine Milner who is the contract specialist at Columbia State Historic Park. She drafts the contract, they go to Sacramento for approval and then they come back to us.”
“I think it’s very likely that we will be able to continue. My only concern is to get it (the contract) done before September 6 just in the event of the potential closure of the Park or a major reduction of local staff. I feel pretty good about the local staff getting this done. I think it’s especially important that the public realize that the Park will not close before September 7. We are still planning on doing everything we can to complete our season in the Fallon House and hopefully next year as well.”
