Grandmother Departs Black Oak Casino With $1.75 Million
Sonora, CA — A 66 year old unidentified grandmother from Waterford departed Black Oak Casino Friday evening with a $1.75 million payout from a $5 slot machine.
Casino Gaming Director Mitch Goldstein says this is the largest payout this year but not the largest payout ever. Several years ago in the old building an individual won a $3 million plus jackpot.
Goldstein adds that the payout is actually made by the company that owns the slot machines, International Game Technology. In fact it took company representatives five hours to arrive at Black Oak to verify the jackpot. Goldstein did not know if the winner took a lump sum payout or whether she will have the payout spread over a number of years.
Goldstein says jackpots such as these will always increase traffic because gamblers think they may be next in line to “hit it big.”
