Deceased Yosemite Hiker Identified

Modesto, CA — The Stanislaus County Coroner´s office has identified the deceased 12 year old Boy Scout who fell to his death in Yosemite National Park Saturday afternoon at Luis Alberto Ramirez.
He was hiking along with a friend ahead of the troop when he fell 300 feet to his death. According to the Modesto Bee a group of 10 children and five adults were near Upper Yosemite Fall when Ramirez fell at approximately 2:15. Ramirez´s friend also fell 300 feet but encountered no serious injuries.
According to Park Ranger Adrienne Freeman there were 10 fatalities in the park last year out of a total of 3.6 million visitors. Not all of those were climbing or hiking related.
