Cox Calls For Bi-Partisan Effort To Fix Budget Deficit
Sacramento, Ca — California´s state budget is in crisis mode, and 1st District State Senator Dave Cox says legislators must get to work immediately.
“Serious budget discussions must begin today,” said Cox during his weekly Capital Report. “These debates cannot be delayed until the summer as it has been done in previous years.”
“My experience tells me that not engaging both Republicans and Democrats in this process will do an extreme disservice to those who elected us to make the tough decisions,” adds Cox. “I want to encourage legislative leaders in both houses to fully engage all members and go through the budget program by program to set our priorities.”
With a $14 billion deficit facing the state, the Governor is proposing a 10 percent reduction in spending across the board.
