Supervisors Submit Homeland Security Grant Application

Sonora, Ca — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors voted to submit an application package to the state requesting $216,474 from the 2008 Homeland Security Grant Program.

The big-ticket items include spending $100,300 on an Access Control Security System, $42,608 on Turnout Protective Garments and $21,876 on training.

The list of items was compiled collectively by members of the Sheriff´s Office, Health Department, EMS, County Fire Department, County OES, City of Sonora Fire and the Sonora Police Department.

The grant application was approved 4-0 by the Board of Supervisors. Tuolumne County has been participating in the State Homeland Security Grant Program since 1999, as it helps purchase equipment and fund enhanced training.
