Critically Injured Driver Identified

San Andreas, CA – The Highway Patrol has positively identified the driver critically injured in a early Friday afternon single vehicle accident on Hwy 26 west of Higdon Rd. as 32 year old Robert J. Maggi of Jackson.
Maggi was driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma when due to excessive speed he failed to negotiate a curve and proceeded off the roadway and impacted a dirt gully. The vehicle then became airborne before hitting a large tree trunk.
Maggi sustained major head and abdominal injuries as a result of the collision. He remains on life support at a Modesto hospital.
