Christmas Deaths And DUI’s Down Statewide

Sacramento, CA — The C.H.P. reports traffic deaths are down statewide from the Christmas holiday period a year ago.
According to the C.H.P. 37 people were killed statewide in traffic-related incidents from Christmas Eve to Sunday midnight while 43 people were killed during the same period last year.
Fewer people were arrested statewide for investigation of drunken driving during the same holiday period with 1,397 people arrested this year compared to 1,661 people last year.
Here in the Mother Lode there were no fatalities in either Tuolumne or Calaveras counties. There was one DUI arrest in Tuolumne County … six in Calaveras County.
