Foundation And School District Launch Health Program
San Andreas, CA — The Take It To Heart Foundation has teamed up with Soulsbyville Elementary School District to begin theKid Fit” program.
The foundation is funding the program that was designed by school district employees.
Body Mass Index testing is currently taking place at school. Following that, Kid Fit will choose 10 to 15 families with at-risk for overweight children in 4th or 5th grade.
Beginning in February, organized after school sessions will focus on physical activity and nutrition. By the end of six-weeks, ongoing Body Mass Index testing will chart the students´ results.
Eventually the Take it To Heart Foundation would like to bring Kid Fit or a similar program to other school districts in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties.
The foundation is a non-profit group representing Calaveras and Tuolumne counties in support of the American Heart Association.
