YES Partnership To Host Suicide Prevention Community Meeting
Sonora, CA — Suicides in Tuolumne County; Sheriff Jim Mele will be the first to tell you it´s an extremely serious problem.
Mele is a member of the Steering Committee for the first ever Suicide Prevention Community Meeting. He states that 20 suicides were committed in 2006 in the county. For the past couple of years Tuolumne County has ranked in the top five in the state when it comes to suicides on a per capita basis.
The initial meeting is set for April 18th between 8am and noon. The goal of the meeting is to bring together all sectors of the community to assess resources, identify gaps and educate the community as to the scope of the problem with a recommendation for action.
