Mokelumne Hill Rollover Claims The Life Of A Jackson Man

Mokelumne Hill, CA — One man has perished and one has been arrested following a roll over accident Tuesday afternoon in Mokelumne Hill.

The CHP says 24-year old Jared Allen of Sutter Creek was driving under the influence when he suddenly realized traffic was stopped in front of him on Highway 49 at Center Street.

Allen attempted to steer around a stopped Toyota Corolla driven by 48-year old Julie Henderson of Mokelumne Hill. His Jeep struck the rear of the vehicle and ran off the roadway. The CHP says Allen overcorrected causing the vehicle to overturn.

His passenger 23-year old Jeremy Brown of Jackson was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. According to the accident report, Brown was not wearing his seatbelt.

Allen was arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

No other injuries were reported.
