Sonora Reaches Agreement With Peace Officers Association
Sonora, CA — Thanks to the passage of Measure I in August of 2005, members of the Sonora Peace Officers Association now have a new salary package in place.
Monday evening the City Council ratified a three year contract effective July 1 that will give association members a five percent raise the first year, a six-and-a-half percent raise the second year and a five-and-a half percent increase the third and final year of the agreement.
Measure I was a half-cent sales tax measure passed by the voters that gives sixty percent of the revenue to the police department, twenty-five percent to the fire department and fifteen percent to Public Works.
The current contract between the city and the Peace Officers Association expires June 30.
