3,600 Marijuana Plants Found In Mokelumne River Canyon
Mokelumne Hill, Ca — 3,600 marijuana plants were seized Friday near Hwy 26 in the Mokelumne River Canyon.
Involved in the investigation were deputies from the Calaveras County Narcotic Enforcement Unit and Federal Agents from the Bureau of Land Management. According the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department, one Hispanic male was seen running from the area upon arrival.
Although the plants were not fully grown, the Sheriff´s Department believes the plants were tended to on a daily basis. If each plant had been allowed to grow until maturity, the department says this particular marijuana crop would be valued at over $9 million.
