Environmental Group Says Frogs Need More Protection

San Andreas, CA — Concerned Calaveras County residents are asking the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to create buffer zones for the red-legged frogs made famous by a Mark Twain book.
An attorney for the Center for Biological Diversity says the EPA also needs to warn consumers about the possible effects pesticides have on wildlife.
The attorney also said his client sued the EPA in 2002 for violating federal law by approving pesticides without considering their effects on the endangered frog.
The group has filed a new motion in federal court, hoping that this time, the EPA will make some changes.
