Tuolumne Man Arrested For Embezzlement At Mervyn’s
Sonora, CA — A Tuolumne man is facing embezzlement charges thanks to the Sonora Police Department and the Mervyn´s Loss Prevention Manager.
On Tuesday night the Loss Prevention Manager told an officer that 36-year-old Joshua Marenghi had been embezzling funds from Mervyn´s since May 18th.
Officials say that during the store´s investigation, they discovered that Marenghi would keep the customer´s receipts and then make a fraudulent return transaction using the receipt, keeping the cash or gift cards.
Reports indicate the loss at the time of the investigation was more than $1,000.
Marenghi, who was working at the store at the time, admitted to the fraudulent returns and was taken into custody and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for Embezzlement.
