Local Teen’s Project Enriches Community
Sonora, CA — People in wheelchairs and visitors with strollers have Chris Wells to thank for easy access to the Pinecrest Amphitheater.
The Summerville High School student and Life Scout with Troop 500 of Sugar Pine is currently working on his Eagle Rank.
In order to obtain the rank, which only 2-3% of all Scouts ever obtain, Wells had to perform a project that helps the community.
He chose to install an area at the Pinecrest Amphitheater that will allow people in wheelchairs and people with strollers a flat place to sit and watch the movie.
Wells also had to raise the funds to perform the project, as well as acquire the personnel required to actually construct it.
The project really began to take shape Thursday as Moyle Excavation laid down the pavement.
Wells was at the site all day installing the new information bulletin board. He was also joined by a couple of Scouts and volunteers donating their labor for the installation.
