Reducing The Prison Population
Sponsored by:
Sacramento, CA — California’s prison population will be reduced by 6,500 inmates over the next year.
A law that takes effect Monday will grant early release credits for inmates that complete educational and vocational programs. The state will also stop its parole monitoring of low level offenders upon release.
The changes in the law were signed as part of last year’s budget package.
