Much Entertainment At The 49er Festival And Chili Cook-off
Groveland, CA– Many full bellies may still be recovering from trying 15 different chilies.
Saturday marked the Annual 49er Festival and Chili Cook-off in Groveland. Many local residents and visitors lined the streets of Groveland to watch the parade featuring classic cars, horses, politicians and community clubs.
Later in the afternoon, the event continued with the Cook-off where event goers enjoyed live music, a silent auction, a dunk tank and of course the variety of chili. President of the Yosemite Chamber of Commerce, Tony Flores says there were three categories of chili, those without beans, vegetarian chili, and chili with both beans and meat.
There were two ways to win, either by the judges´ vote, a panel of seven, or by the people´s choice. Many said their favorite part of the event was the music and filling their stomachs with all of those samples of chili.
