Second Weekend In November Events

There are many events planned for the weekend of November 8th and 9th. First Downtown Angels Camp is hosting a Ladies Night Out tonight, November 6th, from 5 – 8 PM. Angels Camp businesses will be open for an evening of shopping, wine tasting, snacks and a raffle for a gift basket. Details are in the event listing here.

The Calaveras Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Task Force will hold their 3rd annual fundraiser dinner on Saturday November 9th from 5 to 9 PM at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. This is a formal dinner with a special guest speaker, raffles, and both silent and live auctions. The funds will be used to support forensic DNA research. Tickets details are here.

Second Saturday Art Night will be this weekend in downtown Sonora. Both sides of Washington Street and some of the surrounding roads and parks will be filled with music, paintings, artists and merchant specials.

West Calaveras Rotary Charities presents a Veterans Day Dinner on Saturday from 5:30 to 9:30 PM inside of the Jenny Lind Veterans Hall, located on Daphne Street in Valley Springs. There will be raffle and auction items. The proceeds will provide funding for scholarships and community projects. For tickets, call Judy at 209-304-0682.

The Town Square at Copper Valley will host the Copperopolis Volunteer Fire Association’s Chili Cookoff on Saturday. The ticket sales for tasting the chili opens at 11 AM and will continue until sold out. The family event includes a bounce house, prizes, awards, vendors and more. The Chili Cook-off will wrap up at 3 PM.

A Craft Fair will be held inside of the Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall in Tuolumne City on Saturday from 10 AM – 8 PM and Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Saturday is a Rummage Sale at the Sonora United Methodist Church from 8 am to 2 pm. Household goods, tools, winter clothes, name a price, proceeds go to local charities. Location details are here.

WHOW (Women Helping Other Women) are promoting a Hand Crafted Holiday Greeting workshop in Sonora. A local artist will guide and inspire those who sign-up to create holiday cards. The event is from 10 AM – 1 PM Saturday as detailed here.

Rummage Sale at Sonora United Methodist Church

St Matthew Lutheran Church on Sonora will hold its annual Christmas Fair and Luncheon this Saturday. This will take place from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Church located on Joshua Way in Sonora. The admission is free and you’ll be able to enjoy soup and a salad luncheon for $15 a person. There will be raffles for gift baskets and a quilt.

In the Knights Ferry Recreation Area this Saturday is the Stanislaus River Salmon Festival, a free family friendly educational event with $10 event parking. It includes a Children’s Calendar Art Contest with awards for the art presented at the contest, a scavenger hunt with prizes, as well as booths for food and education. While Stanislaus River is closed to all fishing for the salmon spawning season, there will be fishing for kids in a huge tank at the Salmon Festival courtesy of the Stanislaus County Fish and Wildlife Committee and CDFW’s Moccasin Creek Fish Hatchery.

Stephen King’s tense thriller “Misery” will be performed by Fourth Wall Entertainment in San Andreas Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm, through November 9. Mike and Susan Evans will direct and star in the two lead roles.

The Calaveras Humane Society will host a Winter Pet Pawtraits photo event, this Saturday. Get pictures of your pet in a winter and holiday themed setting with or without the rest of the family. Appointments are required as detailed in our event listing here.

The Sonora Sunrise Rotary Club is excited to announce the 4th Annual Field of Honor scheduled for Saturday November 8th through Tuesday November 11th. The flags, honoring Veterans, Active-Duty Military, and First Responders, both past and present will be displayed at the Standard Park Sports Complex from noon to 4:30 PM each day. The opening ceremonies are Saturday at noon.
