Volcano, CA – A pooch running around the Volcano area of Amador County for weeks with no success by locals to catch him put his trust in an Amador County Fire Defensible Space Inspector and now has a new leash on life.
While conducting defensible space inspections recently in the community of Volcano, the unidentified inspector stepped in to help capture a scared dog that had been on the loose for several weeks, according to Amador Fire Protection District officials. Patiently working to gain the dog’s trust, the inspector, with the help of two other individuals, was able to get a leash on the frightened pooch and get him safely off a busy road.

While the dog was quite friendly, it had no collar, so it was sent to animal control in hopes of finding its owners. If not claimed, the dog will be up for adoption in hopes of finding a warm, forever home. Locals thanked the inspector for “lending a hand—and a leash—in the community.”
