C.H.P. Ready For Busy Weekend
Sonora, Ca — The Highway Patrol is in the midst of a Maximum Enforcement Period.
CHP Officer Tom Wills says every available officer will be on the road during all shifts. Eighty percent of all available officers throughout the state will be on duty this weekend. This includes the morning, afternoon and evening hours. The maximum enforcement effort kicked off at six o´clock Wednesday evening and will continue through Sunday midnight.
The goal is to keep drivers safe this Thanksgiving Weekend. Officers will especially be on the watch for speeders, impaired drivers and seat belt violators.
A year ago, 60 people were killed in motor vehicle related accidents in California over the Thansgiving Day weekend. In addition, more than 1,500 drivers were cited for driving-under-the-influence.
