Winter Storm Watch Begins Sunday Evening

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA– A winter storm watch goes into effect for the Sierra Nevada Mountains beginning Sunday evening through Monday afternoon due to expected snow fall.

Latest forecast snow amounts suggest more than a foot of snow is possible above 7,000 feet. Officials say this storm will impact Highway 120, Tioga Pass. A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow that may impact travel.

Those traveling home after the holiday weekend should be sure to fill up their gasoline tank and should also check antifreeze levels in the radiator.

Officials also suggest taking a winter storm kit along which includes such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlights, and blankets in case of an emergency.
