Jury Selection Begins Tomorrow In Nesler Murder Trial
Sonora, CA — Jury selection begins tomorrow in the trial of a man accused of killing another man on Shaws Flat Road last July.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Willie Nesler kicked to death 45-year-old David Davis in a dispute over some tools. Davis died at a Modesto hospital after the altercation.
A prison official says there will be heightened security in the court room due to the publicity of the trial and the violent nature of the defendant.
Also on trial is 39-year-old Dean Phillips, who stands accused as an accessory to the crime.
Nesler is the son of Ellie Nesler who gained national attention in 1993 when she shot and killed a man believed to be her son´s molester as he sat in a Jamestown courtroom.
She served 3 years of a 10 year sentence for manslaughter before winning an appeal in her case. She is now in prison on an unrelated drug conviction.
